A Sparhawk Trucking driver, Douglas Christianson, was named Wisconsin’s Driver of The Year. Wisconsin’s Motors Carriers Association gave the award to Christianson after being named the driver of the month for May 2018.
Award competency for the Sparhawk driver
Douglas Christianson has been behind the wheel professionally for more than 44 years during which he has logged over five million miles. During his career, he has spent the last 23 years in the Sparhawk Trucking company, which equates to about three million miles.
Planning ahead is the secret
In his interview for the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune, Christianson told that the secret to maintaining safety record is to always plan ahead. “I’m constantly reading traffic,” he told the Tribune. “I’ve been out here so long that I typically can see what’s going to happen”.
Christianson was announced as Driver of the Year during the annual Safety Awards Banquet held by Wisconsin’s Motor Carriers Association on March 2.
